In this tutorial, we will be comparing the features and strengths and weaknesses of Black Magic Design's USB Compressor/Limiter vs. Audio-gd's Bluefire Limiters. These features will be listed and broken down one by one in this review.
I have had several requests for a review of both these products so here it is.

Features
The Bluefire unit has 3 modes:
Compressor - produces an output level that is proportional to the input signal level
Limiter - holds the input signal level to a set limit, producing a constant output level
The Compressor mode works very well with vocalists, who often will use their compressor setting to get a nice, smooth sounding vocal.
The limiter mode works well for bands that are having a problem with "clipping" from being too loud for the volume control on their PA system.
But there are a few downsides with these Bluefire units.
Incompatibility with DAWs such as FL Studio.
Hard to get power from your computer. I would recommend getting a Bluefire power cable.
No LFOs in the unit.
The Compressor and Limiter each have a 12-step control panel (or maybe it's just me).

Threshold
Ratio and Threshold are hard to explain. In this instance, the ratio control is your 1:1 input to output ratio. The threshold control affects how "smooth" the sound becomes once it hits the threshold. If you set the threshold to 3 o'clock, then you will have a very smooth sounding vocal.
